Disney's Frozen (London Edition)
I find myself in the wintery climes of fantasy-Norway, once again performing in Disney’s Frozen. We’ve transplanted our Edmonton production across the country to the Grand Theatre, located in the wintery climes of real-life London Ontario, where the audiences are eating it up.
This is one of at least three concurrent productions of Frozen running across the country, with even more to come in the new year. The mind boggles at the number of cosplaying kiddos who will get to see their favourite ice queen belt out the torch song of their generation; it’s a happy thought that keeps me conscious and ambulatory through the 10:30 AM student matinees.
I’m back playing the Duke of Weaseltown Weselton, donning a snow-white wig and a moustache to match. I’ve had, perhaps, an unusual amount of experience playing old men considering I’m just now shy of forty. There’s been maybe a dozen roles where I’ve had to put on a raspy voice and a doddering walk, my first when I was in Grade 11 in a community theatre panto of Cinderella. I wonder how it will feel when I’m actually eligible for the senior’s discount; how much I’ve gotten right, how much I couldn’t even conceive of. I look forward to eventually (hopefully) finding out.
Anyway, it’s a very good show and if you’re in the area, you can get tickets HERE.
